Recycling at Lestercast: Our Commitment to Sustainability
At Lestercast, we are proud to place sustainability at the core of our operations. We are dedicated to reducing waste, reusing valuable resources, and ensuring that nothing from our premises is unnecessarily sent to landfill.
Renewable Manufacturing
- Metals: 100% of the metals we use (with the exception of aluminium) are recycled.
- Wax: All wax used in our manufacturing process is collected, recycled, and reused.
- Ceramic Shelling: Waste ceramic shelling is processed by an external company and repurposed into road surfacing aggregate.
- Wood & Cardboard: Collected by our waste management contractors and fully recycled.
- Equipment: Items such as racking and railings are repurposed wherever possible rather than discarded.
- Nitric Acid: Diluted to 30% and safely collected by a specialist waste management company for recycling and resale.
Sustainable Workplace Practices
- Eliminating Single-Use Plastics: Our support services phased out single-use plastics several years ago.
- Battery Recycling: Battery collection boxes are available across our site. Employees are encouraged to bring in used batteries from home, making recycling more convenient and reducing household waste.
- Mixed Dry Recycling: Dedicated skips and clearly labelled bins in offices, canteens, and departments have allowed us to cut down general waste collections to just once every 1–3 weeks. On average, the recycling skips take 4–6 weeks to fill, demonstrating our success in diverting recyclable waste streams.
