We’re pleased to introduce Mina Parmar, who has worked with us at Lestercast for over 20 years. Mina was promoted to Team Leader eight months ago, following the retirement of her predecessor. With two decades experience of working in our wax room, Mina is a valued and dedicated member of the Lestercast team.
WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AT LESTERCAST?
Wax Room Team Leader. I supervise four wax room operatives and oversee the day to day running of the wax room. As well as working alongside my team on the production line, my job also involves the delegation of scheduled work, supervising the wax pattern manufacture and overseeing the wax ‘tree’ assembly. It is my job to make sure that the wax patterns are produced to the Lestercast quality standard, and to the correct design specification set by the Methods Engineer. My team work extremely well together and therefore we can work efficiently.
WHY DID YOU JOIN LESTERCAST?
A position in the wax room became available and my husband, (who already worked at Lestercast in the shelling department) recommended the job. I wasn’t sure that it was for me, but I thought I’d give it a go! I first started as a ‘Trimmer’ in the wax room and later progressed to being trained on the wax injection moulding machines. The process has moved on a little from twenty years ago. Back then, there was no Methods Engineer and the wax assembly operatives had to think about the positioning of the wax patterns.
WHAT IS THE MOST EXCITING PART OF YOUR ROLE AT LESTERCAST?
I enjoy working on the wax injection machine, creating the wax patterns. Every day is different, as we supply so many components across all industries. The variety of design makes the work so interesting.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE THE MOST ABOUT WORKING FOR LESTERCAST?
The best thing is the people. At Lestercast, it is like a big family. We spend a lot of time together, and you get to know each other very well. We have regular company social nights, where the production and office staff all go out together to let off steam!
WHAT DO YOU LIKE DOING IN YOUR SPARE TIME?
I enjoy going to the gym three times a week and I do aerobics twice a week. At the weekend, I relax at home.
