Air Quality Monitoring Program
This week, we are pleased to welcome Bill Green from Clear Risk Management, to Lestercast as part of our annual air quality monitoring program. Routine monitoring plays an important role in helping us demonstrate that our engineering controls and ventilation systems continue to perform effectively, supporting both our environmental commitments and the health and wellbeing of our employees. This year’s assessment follows several recent improvements across the site, including a full deep clean of our ventilation systems to TR19® standards, enhancements to local exhaust ventilation (LEV) within our Wax Assembly and R&D Departments, and ongoing improvements to several other plant and manufacturing processes. We’re looking forward to reviewing the results and understanding where these investments have delivered further benefits.
At Lestercast, we believe that compliance should just be the starting point. Although we have consistently met the requirements of our environmental permit, we continue to invest in cleaner technologies, improved engineering controls and safer alternatives wherever practical. This helps us reduce workplace exposure and continually improves our environmental performance.
Air Quality For Staff
Protecting respiratory health has become an increasing area of focus across UK manufacturing, and rightly so. Alongside routine compliance monitoring, we regularly review exposure to dust, fumes, vapours and VOCs, investing in cleaner processes and improved engineering controls wherever we can. For us, protecting the air our employees breathe every day isn’t just about compliance; it’s about doing the right thing for our staff. Today, Kirsten in the Wax Room is wearing a personal monitoring device, which measures the air quality in the vicinity of the employee. With the data it collects, it can help to identify any changes to air quality whilst the employee is at their workstation, including moving through the other departments and/or areas.
Environmental Air Quality
Our commitment also aligns with the principles of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those focused on climate action and responsible environmental management. By continually reviewing our processes and investing in improvements, we’re helping to protect the health of our workforce while minimising our environmental impact and being a responsible neighbour, within our local community.
Continuous improvement is a core part of how we operate. Today’s monitoring is another opportunity to measure our progress, identify further opportunities for improvement and ensure we continue to meet the high standards we set for ourselves.
